Huawei's rumored Mate 8 could debut before the end of the year in an effort to take on the latest from Apple. A new report out of China claims the device is set to challenge the iPhone 6s Plus with its own pressure sensitive screen.

The new device will allegedly pack a 6-inch Quad HD display, an in-house Kirin 950 processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage. Huawei will also offer a Force Touch option like with its Mate S, and the new phone should sport a tougher, more durable design.

Combined, the Mate S and Mate 8 could serve as Huawei's equivalent to Apple's own one-two punch. The Chinese company is apparently eager to follow Cupertino's strategy of offering two high-end smartphones at once in different size options.

Huawei actually managed to unveil its first Force Touch smartphone ahead of Apple by about a week, though pressure sensitive Mate S won't be broadly available until early next year. By then the company may have two Force Touch smartphones to offer, assuming this latest Mate 8 rumor pans out.
