Waiting for Huawei’s next flagship? You’re almost there. The Mate 10 family, which should include three devices, will be official in exactly two weeks. Huawei is preparing the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Lite to be announced and released in 2017. And, fortunately for consumers, two of the phones will embrace one of the hottest trends in the mobile industry this year. Huawei is doing its part to ensure its hardware compares nicely against the competition.
An image of the Mate 10 Pro has leaked, and it confirms the phone will have an all-screen front as well as an all-metal body. The leak is courtesy of Evan Blass, who’s been on a hot streak in recent weeks sharing what to expect from Huawei.
Here we see Huawei’s most high-end model in black, blue, and bronze, The front will have a display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 in which the top and bottom bezels are kept to a minimum while the side bezels are barely present. Huawei wants the Mate 10 Pro to look like a real flagship in today’s world, and the only way to do that is by slimming the bezels everywhere. The other thing we can pick up on, which was expected, is that the Mate 10 Pro is made completely out of aluminum. A flagship needs a premium material, and metal is the go-to.
Huawei’s Mate 10 Lite, based on a leaked image from last month, should also have an all-screen front.
The Mate 10 family’s emphasis on artificial intelligence is showcased in the leak, too. Look at the wallpaper to see “AI” stamped on a black background. Last week the company started teasing that the Mate 10 is more than a phone. Rather than calling it a smartphone, Huawei believes the Mate 10 is “an intelligence machine.” The Mate 10 Pro will also have the artificial intelligence solution, whether that’s through a new platform built by Huawei or an existing one like Amazon’s Alexa.
A few weeks ago, Blass shared specifications for the Mate 10 Pro. The phone should have a 5.99-inch Quad HD+ (2880×1440) IPS LCD display, Kirin 970 processor with 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, 20MP and 12MP cameras on the back, a 4000mAh battery, Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 6.0.
Alongside the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Lite, the Mate 10 Pro will debut on October 16 in Germany.
