The Huawei Mate 8 still isn’t available in the U.S., but the company has a pretty good alternative for American shoppers. The GX8 officially launched in the country on Monday, offering mid-range specs, a sleek metal frame and a powerful fingerprint reader for just $349.99.

The Huawei GX8 features an aluminum body with a design somewhere between the Mate 8 and the Nexus 6P. The company’s established a pretty clear design language, though there’s still some room to experiment. It’s available in gold, grey and champagne color options.

The device packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 3000mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, a Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and bottom-facing speakers. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop along with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 software.

The company is also putting a big emphasis on its fingerprint sensor. It’s located on the back of the device and can unlock your phone in just 0.5 seconds. The biometric scanner supports more complex controls too, making it possible to answer a call or control your alarm clock app using the small sensitive touchpad.

The GX8 is available now from Huawei’s own website via the source link below. You can also get it from Amazon and Best Buy (online or in-store), and starting today at Newegg as well.
