HTC has confirmed it will unveil an “unexpected surprise” on Monday, March 20. A teaser image posted to HTC Taiwan’s official Facebook page tells us “Spring is coming,” but it doesn’t hint at what HTC has up its sleeve for next week.

In an effort to turn its smartphone business around, HTC plans to streamline its product portfolio this year and focus exclusively on high-end handsets that turn a good profit. However, after launching the U Ultra back in January, the company confirmed it had another 6-7 handsets planned for 2017 — one of which will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor.

Given that it has been just two months since the U Ultra made its debut, we don’t expect that particular handset to appear on March 20. It’s unlikely to be a more affordable device, either, given HTC’s newfound focus on flagships. Instead, we’re likely to get a new variant of an existing smartphone. GSMArena suggests another U Ultra sporting sapphire glass.

Having said that, HTC could surprise us, so we won’t completely rule out a new high-end smartphone. But for the time being, your guess is as good as ours.
