HTC Apple

HTC and Apple settled a lengthy patent dispute on Nov. 10 when HTC agreed to pay licensing fees on each Android smartphone sold. Neither Apple nor HTC will disclose exactly how much HTC pays in fees — Samsung wants the figure revealed in court — but HTC says current estimates are "very, very wrong." Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu has argued that the Taiwanese phone maker pays Apple between $6 and $8 on each Android device sold, which would provide Apple with an additional $180 million to $280 million in revenue in 2013.

"I think that these estimates are baseless and very, very wrong," HTC Peter Chou told reporters recently. "It is a outrageous number, but I'm not going to comment anything on a specific number. I believe we have a very, very happy settlement and a good ending."
