HTC’s fitness tracker plans may not have worked out as planned, but it still has something in the works. The company recently promised to launch a full family of wearable devices early next year, though there’s still no mention of the original HTC GRIP (pictured above).

“As we continue to develop the Connected Fitness platform and elevate our product offerings, Under Armour and HTC have decided to launch a fully integrated digital ecosystem of products early next year,” the company told Phandroid.

HTC initially unveiled the GRIP back in March through a partnership with Under Armour, but later put the device on indefinite hold. At the time we hoped the company would still release something by the end of the year, but now it seems we’ll be waiting until at least early next year.

It’s still unclear what HTC actually has planned. It could just be a modified version of the GRIP, which featured a touch-sensitive display, GPS and a rubber design. Then again, the company could have something completely unexpected in the works. Maybe even an Android Wear device? Only time will tell.
