Annoyed by those HTC M8 Prime rumors? I would be too if I purchased HTC’s most recent flagship. But good news (or bad): development on the Prime version has been suspended indefinitely, meaning those pictures we got so excited about may be all for naught. This is all according to Evleaks, who has been accurate with his information in the past. It’s unclear why production has suddenly been suspended, but it will likely please anyone who purchased the M8, which just came out in March.
What’s disappointing about today’s news is that it appeared HTC was close to finalizing the hardware for its Prime M8, and there was even a design kicking around that revealed a more premium look. According to what we saw, HTC was going to introduce a high megapixel camera, while still retaining the secondary depth sensor it introduced with the existing M8. As for specs, rumors suggesting the device would feature a Snapdragon 805 processor, 5.5-inch Quad HD display and 3GB of RAM. Some next level specs, but it appears we’ll have to wait awhile until the device is finalized.
The word indefinitely can mean the device is still on the way, or it could mean the device is being scrapped altogether. Either way, it sounds as though the M8 Prime isn’t coming anytime soon, which is either good or bad depending on your viewpoint. For now, we can only wonder what could have been, and gasp at the beauty of LG’s recent G3.
