HTC One M8 - Review - Hero - 001

HTC has confirmed that it has received approval from a number of Canadian carriers for the One M8's Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and over-the-air rollouts will begin this week. Users on both Telus and Rogers should expect to see an update notification soon.

This is a welcome snippet of good news from HTC, which recently confirmed that a number of One M8 and One M7 variants will miss its original 90-day Lollipop update window. While the software has already been distributed to select devices in the U.S., many others are still waiting.

For the vast majority in Canada, however, the wait is almost over.

HTC Product Manager Mo Versi confirmed on Twitter Monday night that One M8 handsets on both Telus and Rogers will begin to receive their Lollipop updates over-the-air today, while users on WIND Mobile, Bell, and SaskTel should have already had it.

In addition to significant performance and battery life improvements, Lollipop for the One M8 brings lock screen notifications, improved multitasking, and features like Smart Lock. You'll also find Material Design shining through in places, but it's mostly covered up by HTC's own Sense UI.
