HTC One M8 2014-Logo Back

When HTC announced the Desire EYE earlier this month we couldn’t help but feel just a little disappointed. Where was the 13-megapixel One (M8) EYE that had been leaking for weeks alongside its mid-range brother? Well, HTC has officially unveiled the upgraded metal smartphone, though for now it’s limited to just a few specific markets.

It turns out HTC quietly revealed the One (M8) EYE over the weekend during a press event in India where it also re-introduced the Desire EYE and RE Camera. Unfortunately the refreshed flagship phone isn’t heading to the U.S. or Europe anytime soon. In an interview with Fudzilla, one unnamed product manager confirmed the device will be limited to India and China while HTC will continue to push the regular One (M8) elsewhere.

The new phone pretty much lives up to the hype, offering flagship specs and an upgraded camera. It comes equipped with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 processor, a 2400mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. The One (M8) EYE will be sold in India for 38,990 rupees (roughly $650).

If you’re desperate to get your hands on the M8 EYE, you’ll probably be able to find one second-hand online later this year.
