status facebook phone

HTC attempted its hand at “Facebook phones” in the past with the HTC Salsa and the HTC ChaCha, two Android smartphones with dedicated Facebook buttons. We’ve heard of a new device that may follow in the trails blazed by those phones, it’s apparently dubbed the Myst, and now the phone has stopped by the FCC for a quick stamp of approval.

Engadget spotted the FCC filing on Friday and noticed the PM33100 model number, which apparently lines up with earlier Myst-based rumors. The phone packs LTE bands for AT&T, which makes sense considering the ChaCha landed on that carrier as the HTC Status. The phone isn’t packing super high-end specs, however, so we doubt this is going to be any sort of Facebook flagship smartphone.

A rumor from a few weeks back suggests the HTC Myst will launch with Android Jelly Bean, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and a relatively small 4.3-inch display with a 720p resolution.
