HTC has announced the Desire X, the latest addition to its smartphone lineup, at IFA 2012 in Berlin this morning. We had expected the announcement to come after the handset — which was codenamed the HTC Proto — appeared in a number of leaks that surfaced over the past four weeks or so. In addition to a 4-inch 480 x 800 Super LCD display, the Desire X boasts a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor from Qualcomm, and ships with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich onboard.
As you’d expect from a HTC smartphone, the Desire X also features Beats audio technology, and the company’s Sense 4.0 user interface. There’s 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage which is expandable by up to 32GB via microSD. In addition to this, you can enjoy 25GB of free cloud storage for two years, courtesy of Dropbox.
The Desire X features just the one camera, which is a 5-megapixel one located on the back of the device, accompanied by an LED flash. It’s capable of capturing HDR images like the rest of HTC’s One series. Unfortunately, there’s no front-facing camera for video calling, however.
HTC says the Desire X will be launching in selected markets across Europe and Asia starting next month. You can catch the company’s full press release below.
