HP phone

Is HP working on a Windows 10 smartphone? Late last year a few leaked benchmarks suggested the company could be partnering with Microsoft on a new "Falcon" handset, and a new report seems to back up those claims.

Evan Blass is usually pretty reliable, so we're inclined the believe the device is real. He doesn't offer any new details besides an alleged name, but it sounds like the Windows 10 Mobile smartphone could be ready to launch pretty soon.

If previous rumors hold up, the HP Elite x3 could sport a 5.8-inch or 6-inch display with a Quad HD resolution. It also allegedly packs a Snapdragon 820, suggesting support for Microsoft's Continuum software, though it may offer just 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Finally, the device will allegedly sport a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing shooter.

HP has a pretty mixed history when it comes to smartphones, and the company hasn't seriously tried to tackle the mobile market for years. The Elite x3 could mark a new chapter for the firm, though teaming up with Microsoft to make handsets isn't necessarily a path to success either.
