Still sulking because you were too late to pick up a $99 HP TouchPad? Well, don’t get too upset, because it’s not all over just yet. Following the surprising demand for the device after it was slashed in price, HP has confirmed that its webOS tablet will be given one last run.

In a post on the company’s blog, HP spoke of its surprise for the newfound TouchPad demand:

Before I share, let me first say thank you for enthusiasm for this product. Since we announced the price drop, the number of inquiries about the product and the speed at which it disappeared from inventory has been stunning. I think it’s safe to say we were pleasantly surprised by the response.

The company then confirmed that thanks to that surprising response, the TouchPad would be given one last run… but you’ll have to wait a little while to get hold of one:

Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand. We don’t know exactly when these units will be available or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase.

If you’re interested in a TouchPad, the best way to track its availability, according to the blog post, is by following Bryna (@BrynaatHP) and Mark (@MarkatHP) from HP on Twitter. The blog post also features a handy list of FAQs that are worth a read if you’re keen to get your hands on the tablet next time around.

Rumors that HP would give the TouchPad a final stint began circulating yesterday after one of the company’s executives hinted that it could be resurrected. One report also revealed that TouchPad suppliers are currently stuck with enough components to build 100,000 7-inch tablets, so it’s likely this will be used on the remaining 10-inch devices.

Are you glad that HP is giving the TouchPad one last run? Will you be trying to secure one when they’re ready?
