Veer 4GHP is in talks to license webOS to other handset makers. HP CEO Leo Apotheker previously mentioned that the company would be open to discussions about licensing webOS, and in an interview with Bloomberg today indicated those discussions may have already begun.

"We are talking to a number of companies…I can share with you that a number of companies have expressed interest. We are continuing our conversations."

So far the HP Veer is the only device the company has launched running webOS. The HP TouchPad is expected to launch in just a few days, and the Pre 3 is on deck for release as well.

It's interesting that a company who hasn't managed to really put out a solid line of its own devices would be considering licensing out its OS to others; however, maybe HP sees webOS as an Android of sorts, that it can allow other device manufactures to create handsets for.

What do you think? Would you buy a webOS device made by someone like HTC or LG?
