When it comes to cars, more is better. More power, more speed, more everything. That seems to be the template Hennessey started with in creating the Venom F5, because that is all it is: a powerful heap of good-looking metal that will blow past you on the street.
Hennessey unveiled the Venom F5 at SEMA Show in Las Vegas. It’s an attempt at creating the most powerful and fastest car in the world. And if its specifications are any indication, Hennessey succeeded.
It all starts with the motor, which is an all-new twin-turbo V8 powerhouse with a mind-boggling 1600 horsepower. The transmission to get the most of all that power is a 7-speed clutch paddle shift transmission. Sadly, it is only back-wheel drive, but that is plenty enough with all the power it boasts.
Hennessey is claiming the Venom F5 will speed up to 180 miles per hour in under 10 seconds and 249 miles per hour in under 30 seconds. It will have a top speed that eclipses the 300 mile per hour threshold. To put in comparison just how powerful the Venom F5 is, it is faster than Formula 1 cars.
To get the most out the power, Hennessey specially design the F5 with an all new light weight chassis and carbon fiber body. It weighs in a brisk 2,950 pounds.
If you’re not already sold on the car, it also looks fantastic. The press images Hennssey released sport a lustrous yellow color that’s a signature of luxury sports cars. Everything from the low swooping frame to the beady side mirrors to the triple exhaust in the back adds to the luxury status of the car’s design. Just looking at it is sure to make you envious.
All of this can be yours for a cool $1.6 million. Hennessey is saying it will only manufacture 24 units and shipments are expected some time in 2019. That’s plenty of time to start saving up to pick one up.
