Rock Band and Dance Central dev Harmonix announced at the end of last week that the revival of one of its original properties, Amplitude, is a little further off than it had hoped.

The original Amplitude hit in 2003 and received tons of critical acclaim as one of the first modern rhythm games. Last spring, the company launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the game back in a modern incarnation. The company managed to pull together enough funding to surpass its goal – $700,000 – just hours before the end of the campaign.

While development is still going smoothly, the team isn’t as far along as they would’ve liked.

“This is our first time working on PlayStation 4, and it’s been a big learning experience for the team. We’ve put a lot of work into our proprietary engine to support some of the new, awesome content we’re bringing to the reboot. These factors combined have bumped production out a few additional months,” the team wrote in a Backer update on the Kickstarter campaign page.

“While our expected delivery date according to our Kickstarter page is “March,” our release plans have changed. We’re currently targeting a summer release.”

I’m sad to have to wait longer for the game – I backed it, too – but a slightly longer wait for a better game isn’t a bad thing.
