iPhone 5 - BirthdayHappy 5th Birthday iPhone! My, you've come a long way since you were first introduced to the world in 2007. The day you were born, most people still thought the Motorola RAZR was the hottest thing since sliced bread, but you completely changed the landscape of how we interact with our mobile devices. It took you a while to learn; you were born at 4.8 ounces, with a 620MHz processor, a 2-megapixel camera and with 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of storage and only support for AT&T's EDGE network. You didn't quite know what applications were just yet, but we knew you had the potential to become one of the greatest smartphones ever made.

Today, you support 3G networks, your processor has been bumped to a 1GHz dual-core Apple A5 chip, you now sport an 8-megapixel camera and you offer more than 600,000 applications to your owners. Your brain capacity has also expanded to 16GB, 32GB or 64GB — depending on how much people are willing to pay for you — and you've spread your wings to all of the major U.S. carriers and countless others around the globe. You've also learned how to provide video chat and have developed into a classy (and glassy) smartphone, but you're admittedly still easy to break.

We haven't seen you in a while, though, and we can't wait to see you as a five-year-old. Your parents at Apple and those "close with the matter" suggest that you're coming along nicely. Your latest operating system, iOS 6, will expand on your Siri capabilities, will add a brand new Maps interface with voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, new notifications, tighter integration with your friends at Facebook and much more. We've also heard that you're continuing to grow and slim down and may offer a larger screen than ever before. You're finally growing into your legs, too, and we hear you'll run on the nation's fastest 4G LTE networks soon.

Happy Birthday iPhone.
