Late last month you may remember a contest we ran sponsored by Lexus, to promote Lexus Enform. The mobile app functionality of the service allows you to do things like listen to Pandora, look up restaurant reviews on Yelp, reserve a table at a local restaurant using OpenTable, and book movie tickets.

The app suite also includes Facebook functionality, so you can check in using Facebook Places to let all your friends know you’ve arrived at a particular destination.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a little time with the folks from Lexus, and check out the app suite first hand. To use the apps you’ll have to connect your smartphone to your car via Bluetooth, which is also how your car gets its data connection for doing things like streaming music (so watch out for high data overage charges).

Overall, the apps looked pretty slick, and I could definitely get used to being able to do things like book restaurants while on the road. The apps that are available are limited by Lexus, to prevent you from trying to do things like playing Angry Birds while you drive, and many of the included apps are either voice controlled, or are disabled when your vehicle is in motion.

Currently Lexus Enform supports: Bing, Facebook, iHeartRadio,, OpenTable, Pandora and Yelp. Lexus says it’s always looking for new app idea to include in future updates, which will be available as over-the-air updates for current subscribers.

Check out the gallery below for pictures of Enform, and let us know what apps you’d like to see added to the service in the comments!
