Some rumors really do turn out to be true. After a report claimed Woody Harrelson would be joining the Han Solo spinoff, StarWars.com has confirmed his involvement. The veteran actor joins an elite cast of A-list talent, including Donald Glover, Alden Ehrenreich, and Emilia Clarke.

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” said Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the movie’s directors. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”

While the rumor said Harrelson would be playing a mentor figure, today’s announcement makes no mention of what role the actor will play. Chances are if the rumor was right about Harrelson’s involvement, there’s likely some truth to him playing a mentor figure. Whether the character is original or part of the EU remains to be seen.

Harrelson has had a varied career over the years, starring in such films like No Country for Old Men, Zombieland, and Kingpin. Because we don’t know what role he’ll play, it’s unclear how much he’ll feature in the upcoming movie. But we can probably make the safe assumption that he will die.

Coming in 2018

The Han Solo spinoff is currently scheduled for a release on March 25, 2018, but there have been reports it’ll get pushed back to December of the same year. The Force Awakens and Rogue One were both released in December and have done phenomenally well over the holiday period, which may be why the Han Solo movie gets delayed. No announcement of its delay has been made.

The untitled Han Solo movie is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke.
