Alden Ehrenreich, who is set to appear as Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, has confirmed some pretty significant news: The actor will play Solo in three different movies. That either means Disney is planning a trilogy for the character, or he'll appear in other spinoff movies, which are thus far unannounced.
Ehrenreich revealed the news in an interview with Esquire. When asked how many films he signed up for, Ehrenreich replied, "Three." Many expected Solo: A Star Wars Story to be a one-off, but that may not be the case.
Which isn't all that surprising, considering the upcoming spinoff takes place 10 years before Star Wars: A New Hope. That means Disney has a lot of time to play with and explore. It's very possible Ehrenreich's character will appear in a cameo role in a completely different spinoff movie.
My inkling is Disney wants to see how Solo: A Star Wars Story performs before greenlighting future projects with Ehrenreich involved. Whether Ehrenreich was authorized to divulge his contract information is unclear, though he did say this to Esquire: "I don't know if that's officially, uh, public. But—yeah."
Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on May 25. If there is another movie with Ehrenreich as Han Solo, we know who should be the star:
