Halo 5 Guardians trailer - 57

343 Industries may have found itself in (and are still finding themselves in, quite frankly) quite a snafu when it comes to the launch and support for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but it looks like the scene has been much rosier for Halo 5: Guardians.

That game saw its multiplayer beta release late last December and conclude in the middle of this January. Following the beta, which worked very well, 343 Industries got to work analyzing player feedback and considering game changes. That feedback, yes, actually lead to very specific tweaks and fixes for Guardians.

All sorts of things will be changed, as you can read by hitting the source link below. But, a few big ones? Here we go.

Spartan sprinting was hit sort of hard in comment sections and forums around the Internet. It turns out those vocally against the sprinting mechanic were in the minority, as only 11 percent of the beta players reported not wanting the sprint ability. However, 343 will offer an option to toggle of sprinting in custom games for those 11 percent of players.

The Hydra was one of the weapons that players sort of hated on during the beta. They cited it as hard to use, and 343 agrees. As such, they announced that they'll be "buffing the weapon to make it more effective out of zoom and ensure that it feels like a true power weapon." More specific weapon and grenade tweaks continue as follows.

  • Sniper Rifle: improve scope experience to making it less "clunky" and faster to scope
  • DMR: adjust position of the scope to improve visibility
  • Bring back the SPNKr Rocket Launcher as a legendary version of the weapon
  • Reduce bonuses for automatic weapons in Smart-Link & w/ headshots
  • Remove grenade detonation in mid-air based on weapon fire
  • Ability to turn on/off vibration feedback for weapons
  • General tuning and bug fixing for all weapons

The feature updates, changes and removals go on, and it looks like 343 learned a ton from this beta period. Did you give Halo 5: Guardians a shot? What did you think?
