Rockstar is likely working on story-driven DLC for Grand Theft Auto V. They’ve briefly talked about it in the past, the game is finally out on nearly all possible platforms and word from their recent earnings call points towards its coming.

Exactly where and what is it? We have no idea. It seems like Take-Two, publisher of Grand Theft Auto V, isn’t sure either.

During their recent earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick responded to a DLC questions with: “No, we haven’t discussed any story-based downloadable content. We did talk about the Heists and they’ve been released.”

That statement was posted by GameSpot. Take-Two reached out and clarified that Zelnick misspoke, and then they offered this.

Strauss misspoke during today’s call, as over a year ago Rockstar Games had said that they were exploring story mode content for Grand Theft Auto V; however, no further information has been released since. As always, we leave it to Rockstar Games to share information about their games when they’re ready

We have Zelnick mistaken and a publisher not quite ready to talk.

The odd thing about this is that earnings calls like these are a good place to calm investors anxious about the future of publishers. If story DLC is in the pipeline, wouldn’t Zelnick has said “yes, it’s being worked on, that’s all I know?”

What do you think? Will we see DLC for Grand Theft Auto V?
