Grandia 3

Grandia III might not be getting the same venerated Steam re-release as Grandia II did, but don't think that publisher GungHo Entertainment is throwing it under the bus. The game has been spotted with an ESRB release on the PlayStation 4, hinting that it might be the next PS2 Classic to hit the console.

Back in the PlayStation 2 days, Square Enix stepped in to help developer GameArts with publishing and localization, but GungHo has since bought out GameArts' library, which includes both the popular Grandia and Lunar franchises. Not wanting to sit on such treasures, GungHo polled fans a year or so back, asking them which they would most like to see appear on Steam.

And we got Grandia II on Steam. GungHo obviously still remembers the poll, pushing Grandia III out on the PlayStation 4 as well.

I wish I had more to say, but I never played this one. My experience with the series only extends to the first and second titles. Those looking for an old-school JRPG romp to hold them over until Final Fantasy XV could look here, but be warned, its reputation isn't the best, even among the series' loyal fans.

Why not play I Am Setsuna instead?
