Warning: This trailer features bodily mutilation not fit for any human being’s eyes.

Half-man, half-dragon, four arms. Mortal Kombat’s original sub-baddie Goro returns to the franchise in Mortal Kombat X, but you’ll have to pre-order the game to play as him.

Let’s put that aside for now, and just marvel at his announcement trailer. Never one for graceful moves or putting a little finesse into his technique, Goro is hyped as a purely brutal fighter, and it certainly shows here. He rips humans in half, snaps bones with a mere grip of his powerful arms, and even shoves poor Johnny Cage’s head down into his chest. Ouch.

Of course, Goro isn’t quite as menacing as he once was after falling victim to Johnny Cage’s iconic “below of the belt” technique in the Mortal Kombat movie. NetherRealm Studios has gone a long way to restoring him to his former ways over the last few games, reviving his role as one of the franchise’s most fearsome faces. Mortal Kombat X should be enough to wipe that smear from his record.

Mortal Kombat X will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on April 14. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be released on June 2.
