Google rolled out an update for Google Wallet on iOS today following a similar update for the money management app on Android last week. The iPhone app now offers easier access to Google Wallet loyalty programs as well as some general performance improvements.

Once you’ve updated the app, you’ll get a push notification whenever you’re close to a store that offers loyalty-based sales for Google Wallet users. You’ll also be able to add new loyalty programs faster than before by simply snapping a photo of the card on display at any participating store. The updated app is available free in the App Store for devices running iOS 6 or higher.

Google Wallet offers the ability to make mobile payments on Android thanks to built-in Near Field Communication chips, though this feature isn’t available for iOS due to its lack of NFC. However, the app can still be used to manage your finances and send money instantly to friends and family.
