Google released two new ads promoting the Nexus 7 2013 yesterday, posting the 31-second and 16-second videos on YouTube ahead of what will likely be a marketing push across the Internet and TV. The two short ads both focus on a college student and demonstrate the versatility of the Android tablet. One video shows how the device helps with his studies, while in the other ad the Nexus 7 helps connect him to his home and family.
In the longer ad, titled “Best Friend,” the student dodges calls from his mom and plays games on the Nexus 7 until he learns his dog is sick. He then quickly heads home, using Google to find the quickest route. In the second ad, “Study Hall,” the same student rents a digital textbook through the device and then searches for a cafe that’s open where he can pull an all-nighter.
If these ads have you thinking about buying Google’s $229 tablet, here’s a quick refresher on what you’ll be getting: the Nexus 7 2013 edition comes with a 7-inch 1080p display, a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, a 3,950mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB or storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, and runs Android 4.3.
