With most major smartphones of 2017 already unveiled, attention has shifted to the Google Pixel 2. Google just sent out invites for an October 4 event, so we know it’s right around the corner. Ahead of the announcement, a key detail about which company is manufacturing the Pixel 2 XL was revealed, and it’s very good news.
According to Android Police, the Pixel 2 XL recently through FCC certification, revealing the model number of the Pixel 2 XL: G011C, a number that was linked to LG back in June. This essentially confirms Google has tapped LG to make the larger Pixel model. This is great news because LG has experience making bezel-less designs with the G6 and V30.
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, this doesn’t confirm that the Pixel 2 XL will have a bezel-less display. But it does increase the chances with LG confirmed as the manufacturer. The Pixel 2 also recently passed through the FCC with a model number of G011A and was confirmed to be made by HTC.
Many questions still surround the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, but we’re less than a month away from learning all the answers.
