Google may soon be offering Chrome OS laptop rentals. Tech blog Neowin reported earlier this week that Google will be releasing the rental notebooks in June or July of this year. Notebooks will be available for a rental price between $10-$20 per month, and will get hardware and software refreshes as they are available. Notebooks will also be available to purchase for a one-time fee.

The concept of laptop rentals is certainly an interesting one. I know I probably have ten computers in my home right now, the majority of which haven't been powered on in well over a year. Being able to rent a computer rather than buy one might be the ticket for some, even better that the rental notebook will get upgrades for free as they come along.

What do you think about the possibility of a rental Chrome notebook? Would you get one?
