Hackers have taken it upon themselves to fix a gaping hole that Apple left when it ditched Google Maps in iOS 6 for its own, flaw-filled solution. If you haven't upgraded yet, or haven't been following along, Apple's Maps solution is buggy and loaded with (sometimes) hilarious errors. It's really not that  funny if you actually need a working mapping solution, however, as many of us do. Thankfully, a hacker named Ryan Petrich is trying to fix that.

Petrich was able to get a version of Google Maps from iOS 5 running on iOS 6. It requires a jailbreak, of course, and Petrich says that the solution isn't stable enough to release to the public just yet. Petrich didn't say when, if ever, the working version of Google Maps will be released for jailbroken iOS 6 devices through Cydia.

If you need a solution in the meantime, we suggest checking out Nokia or Google's web applications, which are both free. In the meantime, take comfort in knowing that Apple is working on its own fix.
