When it launched in November, Google Home felt inferior to the Amazon Echo because it lacked the “skills” to talk to other devices and services. That began to change with support for services like Netflix, and now it’s getting even better with over 30 more services at its disposal.

The list is filled with big names: Todoist, Uber, Domino’s Pizza, NPR One, and The Wall Street Journal. Google Home also integrates with Headspace—a favorite here in the office—and WebMD, so you can start diagnosing that strange lump on your arm.

Adding Actions further extends the capabilities of Google Home, shaping it into a major competitor to the Amazon Echo.

And it’s cheaper

The Echo still offers the market’s best experience. But Google’s smart speaker is getting smarter by the way, and with Google Assistant as its brain, next year is going to be hugely competitive in the fight for space in your home.
