If you had the choice, would you choose evil and hatred on the Dark Side? Or would you choose virtue and kindness on the Light? You may not be Force sensitive, but to help celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Google is making it easy to pick a side. Choose wisely: your Google experience across Gmail, Google Maps, and more will change to reflect the side you’ve pledged your allegiance to.

Me? I chose the Light Side, while other editors on our team went to the Dark Side. I guess they’re all just angry people who couldn’t resist the temptation. Once you do pick a side, the Google services you use should have a little Star Wars flavor. Choose the Dark Side, and you’ll see a lot of black; choose the Light, and your apps will adjust accordingly.

In something like YouTube, the play bar will reflect the corresponding color of a light saber’s energy blade. Because I chose Light, the energy blade is blue. Choose Dark, however, and it’ll be red. You can switch sides at your leisure, and if you’re tired of seeing your Google apps all Star Wars-ified, you can simply go back to the old, boring Google by dragging your avatar back to the center.

In addition to letting users choose a side of the Force, Google also announced it has also created a virtual reality series for Cardboard owners that will tie directly into The Force Awakens. That’s set to drop on December 2—next Wednesday—so get yourself a Cardboard if you haven’t already. And don’t forget to choose a side.
