Google-IO-2015-006

During the Google I/O 2015 developer conference on Thursday, Google briefly discussed support for USB Type-C, which is used in Apple's new MacBook and the new Pixel 2 Chromebook. The company confirmed that USB Type-C will be "coming soon to a smartphone near you."

Some of the benefits discussed include faster data transfers, much faster charging and more — a lot of which we've already talked about in the past. Sadly, while this will no doubt make its debut with the next batch of Android M devices, Google didn't touch base on what phones will ship with the new standard.

Hopefully we learn more soon.
