I think we can all agree that George Miller should just make Mad Max movies for the rest of eternity, as Fury Road was arguably the best movie of 2015. Alas, it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen. In fact, it doesn’t sound like Miller is going to make a sequel at all despite rumors to the contrary.

A new quote from Miller reveals the director has had enough of the franchise, saying the process of making the films took its toll. Below is Miller’s statement, as it appeared in Page Six.

“I won’t make one more ‘Mad Max’ movie. ‘Fury Road’ with Charlize Theron, Zoë Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Riley Keogh [took] forever getting completed. If you finish one in a year, it’s considered a leap of faith. Start, stop, start again.”

Miller added, “Those ‘Mad Maxes’ take forever. I won’t do those anymore.”

Those quotes can be interpreted a few different ways: One, Miller is not going to follow the same process if he ever does make another Mad Max; two, he’s done with the franchise for good despite saying he already has plans for a Fury Road sequel.

Whatever the case, hopefully we’ll get some sort of clarification from Miller soon. Considering how successful and well-liked Fury Road was, it would be a travesty for Miller to walk away.
