Geometry Wars is a bit of a cult favorite. The original affair was a minigame in the virtual garage of Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was the Xbox 360 sequel. It was sold as a standalone, but you could also play the demo in the virtual garage of Project Gotham Racing 3.

When Bizarre Creations, developer of the line, closed, all sort of assumed that Geometry Wars was done for. Not so. Lucid Games has been tapped for Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, and their game is set to release next week.

This isn't a Microsoft exclusive anymore, either, though other games in the series did spread to multiple platforms. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions will sell for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms.

The pricing hasn't been announced yet, but I imagine it'll be right in line with other downloadable titles of a similar ilk.

We here at TechnoBuffalo have several Geometry Wars fans in our ranks. I imagine you'll be hearing more about this brand new entry in the series as each of us spends some time with it. Now, if I can only find time in my holiday gaming schedule to shoot at crazy shapes in space…
