The end of the Gears of War saga is in sight, fellow COG wannabes. Each game in the series so far has come with its own beautiful trailer set to great music and paced better than the entire second half of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Slam. Dunk.

The first trailer from the first game was stunning. You know, the one that had Markus walking the streets of Sera set to "Mad World" by Michael Andrews featuring Gary Jules. I'm not ashamed to admit that the trailer I just linked you to gave me chills the first time I saw it and actually convinced me to check out the then-new Gears franchise.

The trailer you see above, "Dust to Dust," was actually preceded by "Ashes to Ashes" from more than a year ago. Again, a chill-inducing trailer set to fantastic music.

Gears of War 3 is due out on September 20th. Microsoft and Epic just unveiled their take on pre-purchasing DLC with the Gears of War Season Pass. The basics on that are essentially buy the DLC in advance, save 33% on your total cost. That too will be available starting September 20th.

I can't wait for Gears 3. I wouldn't necessarily consider it among contemporary gaming's greatest achievements, but I know that I've personally had a ton of fun with the characters, story and gameplay. Wrapping up the third installment will require a phone call to my college buddies and a meet up like the world has never seen before.

It should be glorious.

Gears of War 3 is exclusive to the Xbox 360. Will any of you readers be stepping up and snagging a copy on or near launch?
