Samsung’s Gear VR may already be a hit, but there’s something you should know before buying the virtual reality gadget. A new report reveals that the headset can damage your smartphone or even your eyes if you use it the wrong way.

According to one Gear VR owner, the headset can burn your smartphone display if you leave it out in the sun. The issues is described in a Reddit post spotted by RoadToVR, which notes that it only takes a minute of direct sunlight, since the headset’s lens can focus the sun like a magnifying glass. A second Reddit user quickly chimed in with a similar story, suggesting you should just keep your Gear VR inside at all times.

You should also avoid wearing Gear VR without sliding a phone in first for similar reasons. The lens could focus sunlight or a even powerful electric light and damage your eyes.

Finally, Samsung warns that children under the age of 13 shouldn’t use Gear VR at all. Apparently the technology can have a negative effect on the visual development of children. If you do let your kids experience virtual reality, the company suggests taking frequent breaks and monitoring them closely.
