Samsung will make the Gear S4 in three colors, according to SamMobile. The smartwatch will have shades of black, silver, and gold to offer. The first two are familiar, but Samsung hasn’t been too interested in gold for its wearables in the past.
The Gear S4 should be offered in at least two styles, similar to the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier from 2016. Samsung positions them for very different types of consumers. While the Gear S3 Classic looks a lot like a traditional timepiece, the Gear S3 Frontier is more rugged to handle the outdoors. There should be a similar type of choice for the next-gen smartwatches.
When it’s official, all three colors won’t be applied to both styles. Only the luxurious style, presumably the Gear S4 Classic, will get painted in gold in addition to black and silver. The durable style will stick with black and silver.
Most of the major U.S. carriers are reportedly in agreement to have Samsung’s smartwatch on their lineups. The LTE-enabled Gear S4 should be sold by Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
The South Korean company is rumored to be working on a Wear OS-powered device, but there isn’t any new information on that. Either it’s a side project or Samsung secretly going to ditch Tizen at a later time.
If the Gear S4 doesn’t make its debut alongside the Galaxy Note 9 in early August, Samsung would probably announce its smartwatch at IFA 2018.
