A video uploaded to YouTube on Monday showcases Dolphin, the best-known GameCube and Wii emulator, running smoothly on a display model of the recently-announced Galaxy S8.
During the short clip, three GameCube titles — Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker — are opened on the handset and they appear to run cleanly, with very few noticeable drops in frame rate.
According to GuruAidTechSupport, the creator of the video, Dolphin’s performance on the Galaxy S8 is a huge step up from its predecessor, the Galaxy S7. To be completely honest, it’s not difficult to see why.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S8 sports an Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 835 octa-core CPU, a Mali-G71 GP20/Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a 3,000mAh battery. Impressive, huh?
We should probably point out…
At this point, we should probably point out that while emulators are pretty neat, the act of downloading ROMs isn’t exactly legal. Even if you currently own the game through legal means, ROMs and emulators put all of that into a legal grey area.
Just something to bear in mind before downloading one.
