The next flagship from Samsung is a little more than a month away from becoming official, but leaks and rumors aren’t going to wait. Now we’re getting to see what is allegedly the retail box belonging to the Galaxy S9. Someone appears to have gotten their hands on it, and of course they snapped a picture to post online. The box, assuming it’s real and accurate, reveals key details about the phone.

Display size and resolution, camera specifications, and biometric authentication are among the more interesting things listed on the box.

As we’ve heard before, Samsung will keep its Infinity Display for the Galaxy S9. This box, however, also tells us what the display’s size is. It says there’s a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ (2960×1440) Super AMOLED display. None of that is surprising, though.

Samsung’s focus for improving the Galaxy S9 over the Galaxy S8 seems to be in the camera. The leak suggests the phone will have a 12MP (F1.5/F2.4) lens with “Super Speed” and optical image stabilization. There’s also “Super Slow-mo” listed on the box. The two numbers listed for aperture have people intrigued by what Samsung plans on doing. The likely scenario is the two numbers are for variable aperture, somewhat matching what a real standalone camera is capable of.

Other features mentioned on the box are 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, an 8MP front-facing camera, stereo speakers, AKG earphones, IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, an iris scanner, and wireless charging.

Whoever got their hands on it didn’t open the box nor did they take a picture of the front. All we get to see is the back, which is acceptable considering Samsung’s done a decent job keeping live shots relating to the Galaxy S9 hidden. If we had to guess, it’s likely the individual behind this leak works in a factory where the Galaxy S9 is in production.

The world won’t be waiting too much longer for the Galaxy S9 to be announced. Samsung plans to host a global launch event at MWC 2018 in late February. Although the company sat out of the Barcelona-based trade show last year, it’s coming back to introduce a new flagship for everyone to marvel at.
