Well, it’s happening. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 won’t have a home button, as many reports have claimed. The confirmation comes from Venture Beat’s Evan Blass (aka EvLeaks), who provided a picture of the device, which you can see above. The move will allow Samsung to include a larger display, the report says, while moving the fingerprint sensor to the back.

There will be two models, one with a 5.8-inch screen and one with a 6.2-inch screen. Both will feature an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and cover 83 percent of the front panel, making them virtually bezel-less compared to previous models.

The larger displays will also be curved on each side, similar to what we’ve seen from Samsung’s “Edge” devices. It’s difficult to see the curves in the photo above but it does indeed appear both the front and back will feature subtle slopes, a design we saw executed to perfection with the Galaxy Note 7.

Venture Beat also claims the devices will come with 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh batteries, respectively, utilizing new chipsets that will make the handsets more energy efficient—up to 20 percent compared to last generation, the report says.

Meanwhile, the handsets are said to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, with microSD support for cards up to 256GB. The phones are also expected to feature a “visual search” function, along with an iris scanner, which Samsung first introduced with the Note 7.

And more

Additionally, Venture Beat says the devices will support a new feature called Samsung DeX, which will allow them to be connected to an external monitor for a desktop-like experience. Samsung is also expected to introduce a new assistant known as Bixby, which is said to be vastly more powerful than Apple’s Siri.

Finally, Venture Beat claims the devices won’t be unveiled until March 29, a month after this year’s Mobile World Congress, with an official launch not expected until April 21. Unfortunately, the new Galaxy S8 models are expected to be more expensive than the Galaxy S7, with prices in Europe ranging from €799 to €899
