When we got our hands on the Galaxy S8 (and Galaxy S8 Plus), we were mesmerized by the device’s slim bezels. It’s almost like holding onto a display and nothing else, which results in a more profound and immersive experience. It makes the already chunky bezels of the Google Pixel XL look downright repulsive.
But that wasn’t the most shocking part. The slimmer bezels are certainly nice, but we were most impressed by the overall size of each phone. Even though the Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch display, the device is only 148.9mm tall and 68.1mm wide. To compare, the iPhone 7, which has a 4.7-inch screen, is 138.3mm tall and 67.1mm wide. That’s a huge difference in screen size, but a negligible difference in overall footprint.
To give you a better idea of what the size of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus is like, we have a 1:1 scale of both handsets, which you can print out yourself.
You’ll be astounded by how, even though the S8 Plus has a 6.2-inch screen, it’s really not all that big. Compared to the Nexus 6P, which has a 5.7-inch display, the S8 Plus is about the same size; the Nexus 6P is 159.3mm tall and 77.8mm wide, while the S8 Plus is 159.5mm tall and 73.4mm wide.
Printing them out will also help you decide if the extra screen real estate of the S8 Plus is worthwhile. Personally, I think the S8 is the perfect size; not too big and not too small. But plenty of people will no doubt be drawn to the S8 Plus’s humongous screen.
You can download (right-click, download) the images and print them out for yourself below.
Note: The images may appear small in the post. I was able to save them and print them out and they turned out to be the right size. Let us know if you have any issues.
