Updates rolling out to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on T-Mobile and Verizon finally bring support for Android Pay. It’s good news for those who use banks not yet supported by Samsung Pay, and those who simply prefer Google’s own payments service.

The United States was one of the first markets to bag Samsung Pay support, second only to South Korea, Samsung’s home country. But like in many other regions, the service is still lacking support for many credit and debit card providers. It’s also missing a number of nice features that are offered by rivals like Android Pay.

Google’s service wasn’t available on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ handsets on T-Mobile and Verizon when they made their debut back in April — but it is now, SamMobile reports. Users simply have to install the latest software update, which is rolling out now, before downloading the Android Pay app from the Google Play Store.

Android Pay not only supports credit and debit cards, but also loyalty and gift cards. It can be used to purchase goods in stores that carry compatible NFC payment terminals, online on your Android device, and inside shopping apps that support the service. However, it does not offer Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) payments that are unique to Samsung Pay.

In addition to Android Pay support, this update brings improvements for Wi-Fi calling and visual voicemail apps, as well as always-welcome bug fixes for improved stability — including one that prevents dropped Gear S3 connections on Verizon devices. There are also some minor enhancements to Bixby.
