Samsung is all but confirmed to announce the Galaxy S6 at an event set for March 1, but we still don’t know when the device will actually hit stores. Now, a leaked internal document tipped to PhoneArena could reveal the company’s official launch plans for the flagship phone and its Edge variant.
According to the leak, Samsung has set black out periods for March 22-30 and April 19-27, during which time employees won’t be allowed to take any days off. It seems most likely that first week could be used to launch the Galaxy S6, while the second period could cover the rumored Galaxy S6 Edge. It’s also possible the company may be planning a multi-stage rollout, instead of a single global release for the new device.
Hopefully, Samsung will announce official launch plans at its event next month, though today’s leak looks pretty official. Then again, the document does note that the current dates could change, so nothing seems to be set in stone just yet.
The Galaxy S6 is expected to offer some seriously impressive hardware, including a Quad HD 5.1-inch display, an octa-core 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor and a flashy new metal design. Samsung’s also promised to beef up its camera power, with rumors pointing to a 20-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel lens in front.
Based on everything we’ve heard so far the Galaxy S6 sounds like a real beast of a phone. Hopefully the actual device can live up to the hype.
