Samsung has begun rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S6 edge+ to improve call stability, security, and battery usage. The update weighs in at just over 138MB, and it appears to be reaching users in international markets first.
This is very similar to the update that Samsung seeded to the Galaxy Note 5 last week. It comes with build number “G928GDDU2AOJ5,” and according to SamMobile, it’s rolling out now in India and several markets throughout Europe.
Samsung promises that this release improves call stability and security, and makes battery usage optimizations. It’s unclear at this point, however, whether the update actually improves battery life, or whether Samsung is just referring to its new “App Optimization” feature.
App Optimization replaces the Smart Manager function that used to be baked into TouchWiz, and automatically closes apps once they have been inactive for ten minutes to save battery life. Users can specify which apps should remain open from within the Battery section in Settings.
If you haven’t already received this update on your S6 edge+, be on the lookout for a notification over the coming weeks. As it’s only a small release, it shouldn’t take too long to make its way to all users, though some will have to wait for carrier approval.
