The Galaxy S5 is almost here, and today Samsung revealed exactly when customers in the U.K. can get their hands on the device. Starting on March 28, the flagship smartphone will be available for pre-order ahead of its official launch on April 11. There’s still no word on when the Galaxy S5 will hit the U.S., though it will probably arrive at around the same time as part of a global rollout.
Galaxy S5 pre-orders will be available through Samsung’s online store, the Westfield Stratford City mall in London and several other unannounced retailers, according to a press release sent out today. In a separate note, Carphone Warehouse confirmed it would also be taking pre-orders on the Galaxy S5 starting March 28. There’s still no word on pricing, though we’re expecting to see the device offered for roughly the same cost as last year’s Galaxy S4.
Samsung’s new smartphone isn’t a huge upgrade over the Galaxy S4, at least from a design perspective, but under the hood it boasts some worthwhile improvements. The Galaxy S5 offers an improved 16-megapixel camera, longer battery life, a Snapdragon 801 processor, a built-in fingerprint reader and a heart-rate monitor.
If you’re in the U.K., get ready, only a little over two weeks until you can put in your pre-orders!
