Next year will be the year Samsung eschews smartphone bezels in favor of its forward-thinking hole punch cutout display. The technology that will usher in this new design will be the Infinity-O Display, which it unveiled a couple weeks back, and we’re getting our first look at the display already. A recent new leak showed off what the panels will look like and new renders put into context how strange Samsung’s new displays will be.
The images come from noted leaker OnLeaks that show off what the Galaxy S10 Plus will look like with the new Infinity-O Display. It’s a striking change as bezels are nearly completely eliminated leading to a true edge-to-edge display without any pesky notches.
According to the render, the cutout housing the dual front-facing cameras will live on the right side of the device. It’s the same placement we saw from the first leaked panels. Though we can’t see it, within the tiny bezel at the top will live the ear piece as well as a few other sensors that can’t fit in the cut out.
Interestingly enough, the render imagines the Galaxy S10 Plus with not three main cameras, but four. That would be a new high mark for smartphone camera inclusion, topping the Huawei Mate 20 and LG V40’s triple-camera systems.
No details were provided as to the specifications of the camera, but we’re sure Samsung will do something impressive as it has done with smartphone photography in the past.
Some other marquee features we expected the Galaxy S10 Plus to pack include a Snapdragon 855 processor, 8GB of RAM and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner that’s going to be much faster than current options available in smartphones like the OnePlus 6T.
