Samsung will release three Galaxy S10 models, according to ETNews. It's a multi-model approach that'll give consumers more choice when shopping for a new smartphone. When they're on the market, you'll see two models that are very similar but one that takes a step back in the name of costs.
The Galaxy S10 still gets two models in the premium segment. Expect there to be a Galaxy S10 and a Galaxy S10+, but it's the third model that deserves some extra attention as it'll drop one of Samsung's most recognizable features.
Forget about curved edges. The third model has been developed with a flat screen. Although it measures 5.8 inches like one of the curved siblings, Samsung will drop the curved edges in an effort to make this model more affordable. There could be additional features left out as well.
It was first mentioned in a scoop from insider Ice Universe. Back in September, no one knew what Samsung's display-making division would do for any of the three Galaxy S10 models.
In 2019, Samsung will usher in M9 technology. That's the name for its next-generation OLED panel. ETNews spoke with insiders who described it as being based on new organic materials. Samsung needs more than ten major materials, and only two domestic companies can handle production of them.
The report suggests there will be 5.8- and 6.2-inch OLED panels on Samsung's other models.
Samsung doesn't have a launch date on the calendar, but there's still an idea of when exactly we'll see the Galaxy S10 go official. Typically, the South Korean company unveils its new flagships in late February or sometime in March. That should hold true in 2019. So be on the lookout for a major announcement within the first few months of next year.
