Android Ice Cream Sandwich Focused

There was no doubt in my mind that the Samsung Galaxy S II would get Google's latest Ice Cream Sandwich update. It's one of the most powerful Android devices currently available, and if this baby can't handle it, then neither can any of its rivals.

However, don't expect to get your hands on the new release any time soon. According to a Pocket-lint report, Samsung Italy has confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich update is on its way to the Galaxy S II — and the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0, Galaxy Tab 7.7, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 — but possibly not until the second-quarter of 2012.

But before you get too downhearted, spare a thought for those with older devices, who are yet to get confirmation that their devices will get the Android 4.0 update; or those who are still stuck in a two-year commitment with a Nexus One, who will not get the update at all.

For those with a Nexus S, Google's Hugo Barra confirmed earlier this week that the update will come shortly after the release of the Galaxy Nexus, but he did not give a specific release date.

Are you pleased that Samsung will be issuing updates to the devices above, or are you frustrated that you may have to wait for months on end?
