By now you know that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is making a strong argument for being the best smartphone of the year. It has just about everything you want in a smartphone, including one aspect that often goes overlooked in smartphones: durability.
Noted YouTuber JerryRigEverything recently put Samsung’s newest flagship under his array of stress tests to see how it holds up under everyday usage and the phone delivered impressive results along with a few unforeseen wrinkles.
Like any other modern smartphone, the Galaxy Note 9 is made completely out of metal and glass, though it is a strong design that won’t damage easily. The metal will hold up like metal does while the glass will hold off easy scratches from keys and such. However, a screen protector is suggested if you want to avoid any scratches making their way onto your $1,000 phone.
While testing the Note 9, JerryRigEverything discovered the buttons on the Galaxy Note 9 are removable. They won’t come off easily, you’ll have to use some strength to pop them off, but they will come off. I don’t think this has been possible in a smartphone ever before and might cause some worry. Missing buttons is not something one worries about with their phones.
JerryRigEverything also did an in depth breakdown of the S-Pen. It maintains the same design for the most part including the removable tips and copper induction ring on the tip for better detection. About the only major changes is the new low-energy Bluetooth.
The last test JerryRigEverything administered was the bend test and the Galaxy Note 9 survived it without any issues. The metal frame barely gave in, ensuring cracks on the glass panels were avoided.
Overall, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is as durable as its price suggests. You can rest assured it’ll survive day to day usage.
