The latest leak involving the Galaxy Note 9 shows us what Samsung’s next flagship looks like in use.
Just before you go off thinking it’s another crummy live shot, think again. The leak actually comes from Samsung itself. So we’re getting an unofficial-yet-definitely-accurate view.
DJ Koh, who leads Samsung’s mobile division, was speaking at an industry event in China when someone snapped a photo of him using a phone. That phone is none other than the Galaxy Note 9 that’ll be made official in a few weeks.
Here’s the photo in question, which was posted on Weibo:
It may resemble Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 from last year, but zoom in on the backside. You’ll see there’s a fingerprint scanner positioned below the dual-camera setup. In 2017, Samsung put its fingerprint scanner on the side. That’s since been changed because many consumers and critics complained. The new spot for Samsung’s fingerprint scanners is below the camera module.
There’s also no doubt this is a Galaxy Note phone at the very least since Koh is holding an S Pen as well. Samsung pairs this series with a stylus to improve productivity.
The executive even mentioned the Galaxy Note 9 during his presentation. Although details were not provided, he said the S Pen has many advancements over previous models.
Samsung will make an announcement early next month. The Unpacked 2018 event for the Galaxy Note 9 will take place on Thursday, August 9. Expect it to be a major unveiling as Samsung is bringing in media outlets from around the world to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
